EXPERIENCE
My name is Vasil Gurbov, an award-winning web designer & developer from Gabrovo, Bulgaria, and the founder of Digital New Era and Studio New Era - an AI-first web agency trusted by 150+ businesses and organizations.

2023 - 8
After less than a year entirely devoted to web design, my personal website won Site of the Year 2022 in Bulgaria - from both the jury and the audience. In 2023 I received the Special Award for Contribution to the Digital Industry in Bulgaria, and since then I’ve been a jury member of Site of the Year myself.
That’s how I founded Digital New Era, and later Studio New Era - an AI-first web agency with a team in Sofia and Gabrovo. Instead of one-off websites, businesses get a whole expert web team for a predictable monthly subscription: design, development, hosting, SEO, ads and automation in one place. 150+ clients so far, including FILPACK, UPFOR, Techno Mag and the Municipality of Gabrovo.
2024 - NOW
In 2024 the market shifted and NetNation restructured its teams. I moved from Team Lead to Senior Web Designer - a ‘downgrade’ on paper, a bigger opportunity in reality: more time for hands-on design, while growing Studio New Era.
2022-2024
Two years after my start at NetNation and a team that has expanded tenfold, I took the position of Team Leader, which opened up additional opportunities for me.
I began to be responsible for my teammates, their successful implementation and continuous improvement. I was involved in a series of internal corporate projects, my goals were to improve UX and UI. I also stepped out of my comfort zone into a series of internal corporate trainings on - Web Design Fundamentals.
2022
As Lead Product Designer - and a shareholder - at Dev Smart Academy, a software school preparing people for the professions of the future, I led the research, brand identity, information architecture and MVP plan, and designed both the student platform and the website.
Then ChatGPT came along and all the stakeholders left the idea. The end. :)
2020-2022
A year later, I moved to the city of Sofia, where during the darkest periods of the global pandemic, I became the first member of the Professional Services team at NetNation. There I further developed and deepened my skills in building truly professional websites with WordPress.
Where apart from the skill of building sites with the CMS, I also learnt the skills of negotiation, sales, client consultation, various designs from web, to logo design and business cards. I learned best practices for security in a corporate environment, project management and migrating them successfully.
2020
I started my career in the sector at an affiliate marketing agency - Perfomalis, dealing mainly with the promotion of online casinos and betting platforms in Varna at the end of my first year as a student.
Thanks to the close-knit and professional team there, I managed to learn a hell of a lot in a hell of a short time, which laid a solid foundation for my future web career.
